David Mordecai
David is lead investigator at the RiskEcon® Lab for Decision Metrics, at Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University (NYU) and Visiting Scholar at Courant. He serves as the Scientist-in-Residence at FinTech Innovation Lab, organized by The Partnership Fund for New York City in conjunction with Accenture. David has served as a Managing Director at Swiss Re, and Senior Advisor to the Head of Swiss Re Financial Services. Previously, he was Managing Director at a multi-strategy hedge fund with $10 Billion of assets under management, Vice President of Financial Engineering/Principal Finance at AIG, a Director at the rating agency Fitch, and a capital markets professional specializing in leveraged credit transactions.
He has also been a member of the Investment Advisory Committee of the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX). He holds a Ph.D. with concentrations in Econometrics/Mathematical Statistics and Economics/Industrial Organization from the University of Chicago, and an M.B.A. in Finance from NYU Stern School of Business. David is a member of the board of governors of New York Academy of Sciences, founded in 1817, whose membership includes research scientists at universities and industry, as well as representatives of business, government, and policy organizations, in 100 countries.
